How Making a Living Off of My Body Has Changed Me

Sometimes, I think of who I would be if I hadn’t chosen the career path I did. Who I would be if I, instead, had chosen to remain in the desk job that sucked the life out of me. I can never know for sure, but I at least like to think I would have eventually reached a breaking point and decided to go into business for myself. Doing what? Who knows. I think about this, but I also think about the fact that to this day, I don’t think there was EVER a more perfect path for me. The one I’m on now is IT.

I believe to my core that me waking up one day and deciding to go ALL IN in such a controversial career, fully knowing that that meant that I could never go work for corporate America EVER (although who knows now because it IS 2022 and people do seem to be more open minded now than ever before), ultimately deciding to fully trust in myself, saved me from living a life that was not authentic to me. It saved me from living a life as a completely different person, masking who I truly was deep down. To me, this choice was the ultimate act of liberation. It was the ultimate act of self-trust. It was the ultimate middle finger to the societal constructs that I felt so trapped in before I chose this path.

When I first got into adult entertainment – first webcamming, then adult film – I was a completely different person than I am today. I was, deep down, so lost. Desperately trying to figure out who I truly was. I had always taken care of myself as far as working out and eating well, and had always loved all things beauty, spending 5 hours at a time getting hair extensions, getting regular spray tans, Botox, filler, going shopping in my free time, etc.

And there is nothing wrong with any of the above, P.S. I still, to this day, love all of the above. But back then, at 25, it was all surface level for me. That was really all I cared about. And of course, getting into adult film, seeing myself in 4K, every single pore magnified, every flaw up close and personal…I saw it, and I “fixed” everything I didn’t like. I compared myself to other women in the industry and would get really down on myself if I weren’t booked for certain scenes, or weren’t “chosen” for special collaborations with certain production studios. For several years, my identity was wrapped solely up in how I looked and how often I was chosen by others. It was an absolute emotional roller coaster, because I had given my power away to everything outside of myself, allowing others to dictate how I felt about myself.

Needless to say, it was exhausting. I didn’t realize it while I was in it, until one day…I did. I think this was around the time that my dad passed away. That was a huge wake up call for me as far as having an extremely painful, but in your face learning lesson in the sense that life is so precious. People are so special. Our lives are so special. We are each unique, special beings with our own gifts to share with the world.

I had this realization, and then shortly after, I dabbled in psychedelics, which to me was like peeling away a fuckload of layers I had built up around myself over my entire existence. It was like I was just waking up and seeing myself and the world for exactly what it was for the first time ever. It was like I finally understood life and what it was all about. (I’m absolutely not condoning this, P.S. I’m simply sharing my personal experience).

From there, I started to completely change my lifestyle. I saw the connection between myself and other people and living creatures, and personally felt like eating meat and animal products were no longer for me. I also became more aware of the affects of what I was putting into my body and how I was treating it. I became a vegan. I stopped drinking. I stopped drinking energy drinks and eating processed food. I started being strict with myself when it came to getting a good night’s sleep every night, letting my body rest and heal itself. I started meditating every day. I started journaling again. I started seeking learning material from books, podcasts, digital courses, etc. on spirituality, which soon became a staple in my life. Nothing else, to me, made as much sense as this stuff did.

I realized that I was just this body – this vessel – that was made out of stardust and was on this huge rock hurtling through outer space at epic speeds, for just a relatively short period of time. I realized that my body and how I chose to present myself to the world was comparative to an art canvas. I realized that with all the hair extensions, beauty treatments, fashion obsessions…it was simply me choosing to present myself to the world how I felt on the inside. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I had much more to offer to the world than just that.

I realized that the surface level stuff is great. I firmly believe that everyone can and should express themselves truly and authentically to the world, no matter what that looks like. But I also realized that I could do that and also choose to be a better human on the inside, too. I soon became able to edit my own photos without cringing and nitpicking at myself over little flaws I would see…from being too skinny, to having a little extra weight on my thighs, to a hair extension showing, to a ripple on my breast implant, to my ugly ass bunions showing…and instead be kinder to myself, appreciating what I loved about myself, and knowing that I, like every other human, have flawed physical attributes, and not allowing that to sink me into a dark hole of depression because I am far more than just my looks.

I also became more aware of the fact that I’ve worked with so many different women. I’ve seen so many different bodies…huge fake tits, small, natural ones…filled lips to natural, thin ones…straight hair, curly hair, curvy, skinny…and I began to see that the truth was, every single one of these women, myself included, is beautiful in their own way. Every single person is beautiful in their own way. It was like I began to see the souls of others, rather than simply what was physically in front of me.

In recognizing this, I also finally understood that this was the ultimate truth, and that regardless of what trendy plastic surgery is floating around Instagram…what hair color is “in” right now…what body type is considered the “hottest” right now…that none of it actually fucking matters. It’s not that it’s “bad” or “wrong” to indulge in any of these. What matters ultimately is the intention behind it. Whether you’re doing it for you or you’re doing it because you think you need to in order to be accepted and liked. Because while the latter may seem true based on the content we’re bombarded with on social media on the daily…it’s not. And knowing all of this, for me, it’s liberating as fuck. I’m happier and free-er and more confident now than I’ve ever been in my life.

Ultimately, making a living off of my body has taught me that me existing as me is already inherently enough, and that anything I choose to do with my own body is A-OK, as long as I carry the wisdom with me that it’s something I’m doing, not who I am. Because who I am goes far, far deeper than surface level. The same is true for every single human being on this planet.

Preventative Sh*t I Started In my 20’s to Be Healthy and Hot for Life

If you didn’t already know this by now, I am slightly (OK, extremely) obsessive about all things health, wellness and beauty. My entire vibe is to look and feel my best for my entire life from the inside out. I want to live a LONG, healthy life without any weird health issues to have to deal with later on. I want to have enough energy to do travel, create my best work, and do cool shit forever.

I also want to look hot as fuck while doing so.

We’re all entitled to live our lives exactly as we want to, and this is how I wanna live mine.

And all that said, I am also a HUGE proponent of habit-making, and starting early. You are a product of your habits. If you eat junk food every day, even if you don’t physically see the effects now, your insides sure do. If you don’t give your body time to rest and recharge with a good nights’ sleep, it wears away at you. If you don’t save money, one day you’ll wake up years down the road and wonder where it all went.

It’s the little day-to-day habits done consistently that create the most change for us in the long haul. So it’s crucial to be super mindful of what you’re doing and whether or not they’re contributing to the best life for yourself that you want to create, and the best version of yourself that you want to be. I say all this from a place of having been on the other side…sleepless nights, drinking too much, being late on paying my bills…and finally saying “Fuck this shit” and transforming my not-so-good habits into great ones. And hell, I’m still a work in progress! We all are!

When it comes to health, wellness and beauty, here’s the preventative sh*t I started in my 20’s that have me looking and feeling energized, happy and hot in my 30’s.

  • Lifting weights/daily movement. Like many other women, for the longest time I was under the impression that lifting weights would make me bulky, so I would spend an hour on the elliptical 6 days a week instead. (Just thinking about that now gives me MASSIVE anxiety)! I finally started getting serious about it when I was 21, and, much to my surprise, I found myself losing fat and building muscle…but I was NOT bulky. Instead, I was just toned AF. As a woman, you can’t bulk up easily because you don’t have enough testosterone in your body to do so.  So unless you’re lifting for hours a day AND eating a fuckload of calories a day, it just won’t happen. Lifting helped me build muscle mass which ultimately meant I could eat MORE and work out LESS. Nowadays I lift 20ish minutes a day 3-4 days a week and do HIIT cardio 5 days a week (and walk the other 2). My body is now a fat burning machine. Our bodies aren’t MEANT to be sitting down all day. We’re MEANT to move them. I wear a pedometer and aim for bare minimum of 10,000 steps per day on top of my workout routine.
  • Daily SPF. I am the QUEEN of being petrified of getting wrinkly. I always tell my friends that I’m going to look like Jane Fonda when I’m in my 80’s, and I absolutely mean it. It is what it is and I am who I am. That said, I don’t DO sun. I haven’t had a real sun tan in like ten years. Me at the beach means I’m slathered in SPF 50 head to toe wearing UV protectant sunglasses, a coverup, a big hat and carrying a sun umbrella. Plus, I also don’t wanna get motherfucking skin cancer. So even on days where it’s snowing and it’s cloudy, I’m STILL wearing SPF. Even when you’re out driving, UV rays can penetrate your skin and cause damage. All that said, I wear SPF 30 moisturizer on my face, ears, neck and hands EVERY DAY, all year round. When it’s hot out and I’m in less clothing, I am SLATHERED head to toe. My makeup also has SPF in it, too.
  • Skincare routine. Your skin is just one giant organ that you wear on the outside of your body (weird af, right?!) Getting into the habit of a solid skincare routine in my 20’s has set me up for a lifetime of glowing, healthy skin. I am ALWAYS tweaking my routine, too (which I’ll share soon in a separate post because there’s a LOT) and trying out different products, tools and med spa services. Some VERY surface level key pointers when it comes to skincare:
    • Eating clean, drinking a ton of water, little alcohol, exercise and sleep make up for a large chunk of how fabulous (or not) your skin looks. It wasn’t until I got REALLY serious about all of the above that my skin became ridiculously clear, plump and glow-y on its own.
    • Daily moisturizer. Keep your skin as hydrated as you keep your body. I LOVE to just slather my skin in squalane oil or rosehip oil and let it sink in before I apply my daily SPF that I mentioned above. I also ALWAYS use an eye cream that I gently dab on – your eye area is one of the first places to show signs of aging, and the skin is super delicate.
    • I always wash my makeup off before bed – NEVER sleep with makeup on!
    • I go to bed looking like a glazed donut, slathered in oil + eye cream.
  • Clean eating and staying hydrated. I eat a whole foods, plant-based diet, which basically means that 95% of the time, I only eat real foods that come from the earth (as opposed to shit like chips, candy, etc). I eat a TON of vegetables every day, at least one serving of fruit, protein at every meal, and get 1-2 servings of healthy fats in, too. I have a steady energy level and never feel sluggish from food. I rarely eat junk food and I rarely drink alcohol, and never drink soda or any other sugary drinks. Aside from fruit, I stay away from sugar the vast majority of the time. It’s really, really bad for you. I also drink a TON of water all day in the form of not just water (with lemon) but hot brewed tea and sparkling water, too. I spend the extra money on super clean, organic food because for me, it’s either that or spending a lot more money on health-related issues later on in life that I can fully prevent right now.
  • Staying on top of my doctor’s appointments. Is it a drag to go to the doctor’s? Sure. I don’t LOVE interrupting my day to trek to the dentist or to go to my dermatologist appointment, but it’s far better to stay on top of this shit now instead of having to deal with some wild illness or surprise cavity later in life because I neglected my health. I book my appointments, I suck it up, and I show up. I’m grateful I HAVE the opportunity to be able to do this!
  • Botox and filler. This shit is of course a personal choice, but for someone like me who likes to maintain a youthful appearance for…ever….this stuff is just as crucial for me as all of the above. I started getting preventative Botox at 22 when I saw my first tiny wrinkle. I have filler all up in my face (lips, nasolabial folds, cheeks, undereyes). I’ll be doing this forever.
  • Stretching. The name of my game is that we only get this one body to carry us through life, so we better make damn sure we take care of it. Just like daily movement and lifting, stretching is super important. If you don’t use it, you lose it! I like to snack on an edible in the evening after work, turn my brain off and just melt into stretches while I watch a show on TV. And it feels sooooo good. Your elderly self will thank you for starting this now.
  • Sleep. I remember being 20, going out to a wild rager till 3am, then springing out of bed the next day to get to my shift at the convenience store at 6am and being fine to function. Now? F THAT. I am SO snobby about my sleep. When you sleep, your brain literally cleans itself out. Your body heals itself. It’s like charging your batteries. I do my best to get at least 8 hours every night and it’s a whole thing. I use aromatherapy spray, silk pillowcases and eye mask, and keep it as dark and cool in my room as possible. Like a cave. Needless to say, I do NOT play the “Team No Sleep” game. Gross. Catch me on “Team Well Rested” for life.

Like any other new habit you decide to take on, it takes time to MAKE it a habit. Commit one day at a time. The way I see it? Show up for yourself and put in the effort NOW – not only does this all eventually become second nature (I get MASSIVE anxiety if I skip a workout for more than a couple days, for example), but it becomes a crucial part of you. Deciding to adopt good habits NOW will save you a lot of headache in the future. You got this.

2020 Holiday Gift Guide

It’s here! My first-ever holiday gift guide to help make your holiday shopping just a BIT more streamlined 🙂 This took eternity to put together and I’m so stoked to share these favorite treasures of mine with you. Enjoy!

  1. INH Hair ponytails:These ponytails are a dream come true for any glamorpuss who likes to look hot but doesn’t like to spend hours styling their hair. They have the BEST variety of styles, literally take 3 minutes or less to install and add an instant “HOT DAMN!” factor to any look.
  2. Drybar Sparkling Soda Shine Mist:You know how you catch a whiff of a fabulous scent and it just makes you think, “expensive!?” That’s precisely the vibe I get with this stuff. It reminds me of the hours I’ve spent at the vibe-y Drybar getting pampered. The whole place smells like this. It’s got this super unique fresh-but-sugar-y scent to it. That, plus the light touch of shimmer it adds to my hair…this is one product that I will never NOT have in my beauty cabinet.
  3. Kiss Nails: I fell in love with these nails over the past couple months and now I can’t get enough of them. In fact, I really don’t think I’ll ever be going to get a manicure again. Once again, these are perfect for those of us who can’t NOT have a manicure but don’t want the high maintenance. There are TONS of different styles, and all you need is extra strength glue and a buffer to make them last, with the occasional 30-second touch up, for nearly 2 weeks.
  4. Alaska Bear Silk Pillowcase: Silk pillowcases are a MUST for those who want to take preventative measures when it comes to not having wrinkles. When you sleep on, say, cotton pillows, the fabric gently tugs at the delicate skin on your face. Over time, this equals wrinkles. It’s also fantastic for your hair, helps you NOT wake up with bedhead, and helps your hair better absorb its oils. I’ve been sleeping with silk pillowcases for years and will never go back.
  5. Truly Beauty Unicorn Fruit Whipped Body Butter: You know when you smell a REALLY yummy body lotion that’s SO good you wanna eat it? That’s how I feel about this stuff. It’s got clean ingredients, vegan, and cruelty free, and smells like a fruity vanilla cupcake. You can just TELL it’s great quality when you dip your fingers in – it’s thick, hydrating AF and you only need a little bit to go a long way. This lotion is a staple for me!

  1. Heaven Sent Phone Case: This case is near and dear to me because it’s a forever reminder of one of my favorite photoshoots of all time with my dear photographer friend Alberto Frigone. There’s nothing like collaborating with someone who’s like-minded and just GETS your creative vision enough to be able to bring it to life. And, most importantly, it’s biodegradable.
  2. Apple AirPods Pro: I’ll admit, when these first came out, I was apprehensive about buying them. I’m not the person who HAS to go out and buy the latest gadget every time one comes out. But, when I was gifted a pair, my whole stance on these changed. I literally use them EVERY single day. They’re incredible for working out and taking calls and not having to carry your phone around obnoxiously on speaker or awkwardly hold it up to your face and get all greasy. And, no more untangling neverending headphone wires!
  3. GoPro Hero 8: I just started filming with this a few months ago and I am OBSESSED. This pint-sized bb packs a MASSIVE punch. I’m floored by the crisp, 4K quality this camera delivers. It’s SO easy and convenient to use, and it also has a built-in stabilizer, which means no more shaky footage.
  4. Oculus Quest 2: I’m the first to admit that I’m not much of a gamer. I like to get my hands dirty in business projects, and usually have so many going on that I almost always would rather be working than chilling. HOWEVER. This device is SO. FUCKING. FUN. Putting the headset on truly immerses you in another world. It’s zen AF, and there are SO many games to play. (I’m a big fan of the Beat Saber Game – also a great cardio workout)!

I firmly believe every household needs one of these. Because sometimes, you just gotta turn your brain off and cut loose.

  5. Hatch Restore Sleep Clock :I’ve been getting super serious about my sleep recently. There’s an art to getting a proper night’s sleep, and this clock is a BIG help. You can change the lighting to wind down from a day of blue light iPhone and computer screen exposure (the stuff that tricks your brain into thinking it’s day time), comes with soothing sounds you can fall asleep to, and gently wakes you up, allowing you to ease into your day rather than haul ass out of bed in a state of chaos.

  1. Head in the Clouds Hoodie: I wear this hoodie ALL the time – it’s soft, cozy, unisex and, well, speaks for itself. I like to get a size up from my normal and wear it with leggings for maximum cozy factor.
  2. Laser Stars Hologram Projector: I don’t know how I lived my life without this. I got my first one ten years ago, and will ALWAYS have one of these in my house. There’s nothing like lying in your soft, cozy bed wrapped in fuzzy blankets with this bad boy projecting trip ass galaxy visuals on your ceiling. Bonus points if you pair it with edibles and a friend 😉
  3. Wonderstruck Wall Clock: This design was inspired by my love for fun guys 😉 neon, chic-ness, and trippy shit, so naturally, I had to bring this to life. This one is a subtle statement maker for any living space.
  4. Scummy Bears Mi + U Soft AF Blanket:  When this collaboration came to life, I had to snag one. There’s nothing like being wrapped up in this (literally) soft af blanket like a burrito surrounded by a sea of colors. I bring this blanket everywhere with me when I travel, too.
  5. Celestial Nymph Mousepad: You know how sometimes you come across a really cool piece of art and you’re like, totally ENTHRALLED by it? That’s how I felt about the artist who helped me bring this custom design to life. It adds the perfect amount of triptastic-ness to my workspace, and is a gentle reminder to me to HAVE FUN and not take things too seriously. I imagine this is EXACTLY what my life would look like as a fairy living in a forest. 😉

  1. Hentai and Chill Mug: There’s nothing like cheeky houseware that gets me going, which is exactly why I designed this mug. Enjoy your morning coffee and let your freak flag FLY.
  2. BDSM Crewneck: I designed this simple crew in mind with the idea of being timeless and subtly sassy. It’s soft, cozy and adds the perfect touch of bold-ness to any look. I love that it makes people do a double take, like, “Wait…does that say what I think it says?!”
  3. Tempest Stimulator by Pornhub Toys:  If you’re a woman, or have a special woman in your life, stop everything you’re doing right now and go snag this toy. It’s compact, sleek, and really just does THE JOB. Plus, it’s small enough to bust out when you’re having sex, instead of killing the mood by going to get the big ass Hitachi out and plug it into the wall.
  4. Disco Stick Art : You know what I’m a fan of? Cool, unconventional art that sparks interesting conversations. This one covers all bases. Plus, it’s GLITTERY.
  5. Frosted Cupcake Lube :I just started using this stuff at home behind closed doors, and let me tell you…if you’re not already a giver, you will be when you use this. It makes anything and anyone taste like a bake shop. Heh heh.

  1. Vegan AF Notebook:Tell everyone you’re vegan and keep it classy, too. You can find me madly scribbling random ideas into this notebook that has a forever home at my desk.
  2. Aerogarden Indoor Herb Garden: There’s something really, really cool about growing your own food..and this adorable herb garden makes it foolproof for even the most newbie green thumbs. Add a punch of flavor (and antioxidants galore) to your food without even leaving your house.
  3. Smart Sweets Peach Rings:I used to absolutely chain swallow gummy peach rings a few times a week before cleaning up my diet in my 20s, so naturally I was ECSTATIC to discover these bad boys. No sugar alcohols, no artificial sweeteners, no added sugar, AND THEY’RE VEGAN. For 100 calories a bag, they’re the perfect sweet treat (I like to nibble on these during movie nights at home)!
  4. Can Be Done CBD Tincture: A daily staple of mine and part of my everyday routine, CBD has been a game changer for me. It helps keep me chilled out when I have 5879 projects going on at once, focused, and wipes anxiety. Plus, CBD is an incredible anti-inflammatory. It’s vegan, organic, gluten free and has just a touch of mint-y flavor. You can find this in my bag at any given time.
  5. Baked by Melissa Cupcakes:The very first time I went to New York City, I got one of these mini cupcakes (Oreo) and BAM! Mouthgasm. This vegan sampler has a little something for everyone.

  1. Four Sigmatic Mushroom Cacao with Reishi: There’s nothing like curling up under a soft af blanket in a ball on the couch, Netflix on full speed ahead, sipping on hot chocolate. Think of this as your hot chocolate version 2.0. It’s packed with antioxidants, low sugar, and is the perfect nightcap at the end of a long day.
  2. Heaven Sent Canvas Print:OK, I may be a bit biased here, but this photo is HOT. I wanted to give the humans an option to hang up a piece of sexy art on their wall while still being tasteful, leaving just enough to the imagination. So that way, when Mom comes to visit, you have one less step to take when you de-porn the house.
  3. Stardust Hoodie: We’re all just made of stardust, literally. Which was exactly my thought behind this hoodie. It’s warm, it’s soft, and this blue is to die for. I LOVE wearing this one a size up (paired with leggings) and lounging around the house.
  4. Faux Fur Throw: You literally cannot get any cozier than by swaddling yourself up in a ball on the couch wrapped up in this fuzzy blanket. Just don’t blame me if you get stuck there.
  5. Red Rose Blueberry Muffin Tea: This is one of my favorite teas literally ever. It tastes EXACTLY like a blueberry muffin. Tip: Use 2 bags at a time for maximum muffin flavor-load. I drink this stuff every day, and it’s also the perfect fix for when your inner sweet tooth monster comes out to play.

  1. Eat a Dick Greeting Cards: Send a heartfelt “thinking of you” greeting to your favorite human…or, better yet, send it anonymously and confuse the hell out of people.
  2. Fuck It’s Cold Beanie:These are my only thoughts every winter. (Aren’t they everyone’s!?) Which is exactly why I made this.
  3. Please Don’t Do Coke Cross Stitch: A gentle reminder to your houseguests.
  4. Worst Behavior Coffee Table Book :If you’ve ever wondered what the lens of a Los Angeles photographer looks like (especially one that takes pictures of models, porn stars, musicians, partygoers and more…look no further. As he says, it’s “122 pages of chaos and debauchery.”
  5. Jonathan Adler Vice Jar :This entire line is the shit. You can really put these in any room and they fit right in. I am slowly accumulating a collection.

  1. Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager:As someone who has chronic back and neck knots between lifting weights and computer time (and as someone who’s a deep tissue massage junkie), this has been my holy grail. I like my massages ROUGH, and this still does it for me. You can apply as much or as little pressure as you want to get the job done. This is a hard gift to NOT love.
  2. What Do You Meme Party Game:This one will have you in tears (in a good way)! 😉 It’s a game of pure ridiculousness with no point other than to have fun.
  3. Tile Tracker Essential: The most annoying feeling in the world is tearing apart your house looking for your car keys and wallet in a state of rage. Especially when you have somewhere to be. This handy little pack makes everyone’s life EASY.
  4. Plush Spa Robe: I firmly believe that everyone needs to own one of these. You just feel fancy as fuck wearing one of these, especially fresh out of the hot shower. It’s like being at the spa. But at your house.
  5. Nanoleaf Rhythm Edition: I don’t care how old you are, this is still really fucking cool. This adds INSTANT vibes anywhere you put it.

  1. Derp Mug:This is by far one of the best photos I’ve ever captured of Scout, which is exactly why I had to further commemorate it with this fabulous mug. Enjoy your morning coffee with a side of chuckles looking at this derpy face.
  2. Crown and Paw Pet Portraits:I ordered one of these with Scout’s face on a Harry Potter robe, and it’s by far one of my favorite purchases. Ever. This is SUCH a cool, unique gift for any fur parent.
  3. Best Friends Animal Society Sponsorship :I get the warm fuzzies just thinking about helping animals. It’s SUCH a nice feeling to know you’re having a hand in helping out a furry friend in need.
  4. Petsafe Drinkwell Pet Fountain:I am ALL about making any and every part of my life as easy as possible, and taking care of Scout is no exception. Her own personal water fountain means I never have to second guess if I need to refill her dish, and this is low maintenance AF.
  5. Chuckit Ball Launcher:As exciting as playing fetch is, the soggy factor is NOT cute. Blegh. With this handy contraption, you no longer have to touch that icky ball to play with your pup.

Which gifts are you going to snag?! LMK. Now, I’m off to chug more blueberry muffin tea and take over the world. Happy holidays, y’all!
